Dyslexia Day Centre
St Andrew’s Old School, Rue de la Boullerie, St Andrew, GY6 8XD
Telephone: 01481 232 655
The Dyslexia Day Centre is a Guernsey based Charity organisation which was set up in 1987 to offer specialist tuition, assessments, support and advice to islanders who are affected by dyslexia.
It works with schoolchildren from the age of 7 who are referred to the Centre through the States Education Department from the Island’s primary schools. Whilst it continues to offer support throughout secondary education, the main focus is on the primary years.
The Centre receives a grant from the Education Department but, as this does not cover the running expenses, it also relies heavily on volunteers and fund raising in order to meet the needs of the Island community. The Centre is proud to have raised sufficient funds over the years to train 14 full-time teachers, 7 of whom now specialise in teaching dyslexic children and who work both in schools and in the Centre’s new home within in the former St Andrew’s Primary School.
The Centre also continually raises funds to ensure that it has the latest equipment which is required both for assessments and teaching.

With more than 141 years of caring for animals in Guernsey, the GSPCA is growing to meet the demands of the modern world with enthusiasm, optimism and energy. The role now, as in those early days, of preventing cruelty and promoting kindness to animals, through education, is as strong as ever. So much is achieved – through the Society’s qualified and dedicated staff, its own welfare officer, friends and supporters throughout the island and its association with the RSPCA.
