Yes, it’s that time of year again when all roadside banks, hedges and streams must be cut and cleared. We have until the 15th June to get the work done. Judging by the incredible amount of growth we have seen along the lanes, there will be quite a lot of debris to clear up.
The Douzaine and Constables are anxious to preserve the beauty of our Parish and strongly discourages the harmful and unsightly practice of “bank scalping”. Reducing banks to a virtual dust bowl does nothing for flora and fauna!
Please take care to avoid harming wildlife, including birds and hedgehogs. The GSPCA (01481 257261), Guernsey Hedgehog Rescue (07781 144250) and veterinary practices, see far too many horrific deaths and massive injuries caused to hedgehogs by strimmers.
As well as protecting wildlife, it is also important to protect yourself from the attention of our unwanted visitors – Asian Hornets. Please keep an eye open for hornet nests and report any sightings to 07839 197082.
